Our Smurfs Project produces specialty coffees made from Burundi Peaberry Coffee. It's a collaboration between the exporter GreenCo, LetSequoia, and Namusairo Coffee. There were risks, of course. Sorting cherries under 13 screen size cost-effectively is a challenge, and Burundi coffee was not a known commodity to Korean consumers. But this collaboration has been built around the idea of community – bringing together many people from different parts of the process, treating everyone fairly, and solving problems creatively. The result has been a beautiful specialty coffee from what was considered a commodity coffee.

Dear GreenCo and fifteen thousand farmers:

Every time I see round, small, and solid peaberries, I cannot help but admire how cute and tiny they are. If I brew a cup of coffee, I'm surprised again by the aroma and balanced taste. I think all of this is due to the effort of fifteen thousand farmers, GreenCo, and Letsequoia.
Looking at this coffee, it reminded me of the cartoon character Smurfs and their village. Ngozi, Kayanza is a community where the whole town works together and grows together to make a small but solid and balanced coffee, like Smurfs village, where the tiny Smurfs live warm and beautiful. That's why we named this coffee Smurfs. Customers who taste this coffee are amazed at the coffee's size and taste and wonder about your town. I think this coffee produced in Kayanza is a precious gift.
Thank you for producing this wonderful and precious coffee.
Warmest regards,

BAE Junsun
On behalf of Namusairo Coffee
