Cafe 1959, run up by Jose Giraldo, is a relatively new specialty coffee company in the market. Jose is active in introducing coffees from his neighbors. I remember him saying with big smile that coffee growers in his neighborhood to be happy when their coffees become well known. This Gesha is from his neighbor Nicolas Ocampo.

“I’m the 3rd generation producer in Giraldo family who has been producing coffee for more than 50 years. 5 years ago, after finishing the studies of international marketing and logistics, I saw the opportunity to tell history on our product, printing quality and love on it. My father, German (2nd generation) is PhD on food engineering, which allowed us to research all the behavior on the processing different methods at the lab. Nothing is better than working with the family. Once we established very good and consistent protocols in our farms, we continue with one of our main mission, which is helping every possible coffee grower to upgrade quality and to find better opportunities that specialty coffee can bring.”


“We share our production processing protocols to specific compromised growers who want to work very hard and understand the importance on the quality. Sharing the protocols is including the immersion in the processing for weeks in order to explain the importance and incidence step by step. We want to show that Colombia can have high top quality coffee lots and tell our stories worldwide. For us it is very important to let you know that we are paying more than 200% of the market price to the producers and also giving knowledge that took us years. We have no secrets to our partners. We only want them to find love in the specialty coffee processing as we have.”
